          Dr. Rose, age 78, struggled with his own health issues, having survived the past 17 years with prostate cancer, and five back surgeries for spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease.

          Jane Pomazal is in their 70s.

          He lived his last four years at North Wood Place in Escanaba with his wife Jeanne, where she and the staff provided attentive and excellent care, supporting him in his last years while he lived with dementia.

          He was born in Escanaba on December 31, 1943 to Leslie B.

          “Lolly” and Una Mae (Johnson) Rose. He was a descendant of the Potvin family of Bark River and Schaffer. An outstanding student, he graduated from Escanaba Area High School at the top of his class in 1962 and was a recipient of the Anna C.

          Norton Memorial Scholarship.

          Dr. Rose did his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and was admitted to the U of M Medical School after three years of undergraduate study, which was an unusual accomplishment.
